Project SHOWCASE

St. Lukes 3

St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute has been providing world class eye care for 50 years in the Tampa Bay Area. To celebrate this milestone anniversary and to continue to advance the practice, St. Luke’s completed a major renovation to its Tarpon Springs, Florida facility.

Dr. James Gills started the practice in 1968 and has been recognized over the years for his innovative techniques to help reduce complications of cataract surgery and define the standard of care. He is also well known for his philanthropic work. His son Dr. Pit Gills, who now leads the practice, wanted to honor his Dad’s accomplishments and St. Luke’s growth over the 50 years.

The creative team at St. Luke’s decided to have a timeline made showcasing the milestones of the practice. There were many revisions before the design was finalized. Then followed questions on how to build the timeline and what type materials to use to give it the richness and strength that was envisioned.

Based upon a referral from previous work that Image360 South Tampa had done, St. Luke’s contacted us to help them bring the vision to reality. Now it was up to Image360 South Tampa to determine the best materials, produce and install the timeline to be complete for the 50th anniversary party.

The 20’ wide timeline consists of 39 aluminum plaques of various sizes, each telling a story with raised copy. The dates and individual pictures were made separately to give additional depth and boldness to the plaques. The challenge was how to build a 20’ center bar that would be strong enough to be straight and yet thin enough to not overshadow the plaques. In addition, it was critical that the branches from the center bar lined up perfectly with their respective plaques. The components to the timeline needed to match with the wall color to ensure there was enough contrast for each piece of the timeline to stand out. Once the material and production method were chosen, our designer calculated the required measurements to create the optimal layout.

When your company or organization needs a display to celebrate its history and accomplishments, reach out to Image360 South Tampa to design and produce your next Timeline, Wall of Honor or Donor Wall.
